Let there be air
The secret of success of indoor gardening lies in making clean fresh air available to indoor plants. Plants in the open have air in abundance and the accurate balance of carbon dioxide to meet their food synthesizing requirement. Rain and wind takes care of removing dust and pollutants from their surface, which is also important for maximum growth. Indoor plants, however, have to be provided these conditions, and the inline centrifugal fans can help you accomplish just that.
These high performance inline duct fans have replaced the old inefficient squirrel cage fans. We use them for cooling our light fixtures, bringing fresh air into the garden, exhausting stale air from the space, and for scrubbing the air when attached to a carbon filter. At the very least, you will need 2 centrifugal fans in your grow room. In smaller spaces you can use one to both bring fresh air into the garden and to cool your air-cooled reflector at the same time. This setup will also help condition cold fresh air during the winter months by passing it over the hot lamp before entering your space. You will also want a second centrifugal fan attached to a carbon filter to remove airborne contaminants and odors from the garden. If you are using a vertically mounted carbon filter, you can attach your fan to the top of the filter and then purchase a 90° duct elbow and redirect that air either out of the space or back over the garden to help keep the air moving. We recommend using an oscillating fan for moving air around and to avoid pointing the airflow from a high cfm centrifugal fan directly at plants in the garden.
